About

The PlayStation 5 Pro has sparked mixed reactions due to its high price and limited graphical enhancements, leaving many wondering how it will handle upcoming titles like GTA 6. With no exclusive games and minimal improvements over the base PS5, gamers are questioning whether the upgrade is worth the investment, especially with concerns about frame rates.

Reasons

In a recent interview with IGN, Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter suggested that GTA 6 might struggle to reach 60 FPS on the PS5 Pro. He noted that past GTA games have historically run at 30 FPS on launch, due to the CPU's intensive demands from complex in-game simulations like traffic, weather, and pedestrian behaviors.

Leadbetter pointed out that the PS5 Pro shares the same CPU as the PS5, meaning the processing power needed to run GTA 6 at 60 FPS would be a challenge. This issue stems from the CPU being tasked with running these complex simulations, rather than the GPU, which handles graphical enhancements more easily.

Despite these concerns, Leadbetter admitted this is still speculation, as we haven’t seen the full extent of the PS5 Pro’s capabilities. He predicted GTA 6 will likely have higher-quality visuals on the Pro model, though it may still run at similar frame rates as the standard PS5.

Conclusion

GTA 6 is expected to look visually stunning on the PS5 Pro, but achieving 60 FPS may be difficult due to CPU limitations. Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter speculates the console might offer better graphics but will likely maintain the same 30 FPS target as its predecessor.
