GTA 6 Future: Rockstar Integrating GTA 5 FiveM to PlayStaion 5 and XBOX Series X|S

"A year after Rockstar Games' $20 million acquisition of Cfx.re, former employees reveal internal issues and Rockstar’s failed "FiveM killer" project. Rockstar is developing a new mod engine, "Project Soundstage," hinting at user-generated content for consoles and a major industry impact."

It's been a year since the acquisition between Rockstar Games and Cfx.re took place for $20 million. There have been lots of ups and downs in the GTA RP server, with numerous leaks, information, and internal issues occurring both before and after Cfx.re (FiveM/RedM) joined Rockstar Games Studio, which is pretty controversial too.

FiveM Discloses Details about the Rockstar Games and Cfx.re Acquisition

In an interview, a former employee and developer of Cfx.re disclosed the situation they faced while working with Rockstar Games. The founder of FiveM was not even informed when the acquisition took place, she said. After the acquisition was completed, they were respectfully invited and introduced to the Rockstar Studio, and they were also made to work remotely by being provided with confidential PCs from Rockstar Studio.

I learned later that they were working on a FiveM-Killer inside of Rockstar…The project failed and supposedly died 2 years before we joined! -- FiveM Dev

According to a former Cfx.re employee, Rockstar Games was developing a "FiveM killer" tool to take them down before acquiring Cfx.re. However, this project failed and was abandoned after two years, leading Rockstar to take legal action against Cfx.re. When Rockstar Games couldn't win the issue legally, they decided to buy Cfx.re instead, aiming to improve GTA RP in the future with a broader vision. Despite this, the FiveM team was never given much priority, leading to mismanagement and a toxic environment in the workplace. Additionally, a former Cfx.re developer was fired without a proper explanation, while Rockstar claimed it was due to mental health issues and emotional stress.

Moreover, in the interview with GTA Focal, they stated that Rockstar Games has been working on their own mod game engine, with the secret code for this project being "Project Soundstage." Additionally, the famous Rockstar data miner Tez2F has also decoded that Rockstar is secretly working on their own mod engine. He found that the task process resembled a mission-creating process, which hints that GTA Online will feature the ability to create custom missions within the game. This suggests that Rockstar Games is working on user-generated content.

Conclusion

Maybe this is a sign that Rockstar Games is working to create their own mod engine to integrate this server into consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. We don't know yet. With around 100,000 daily players on GTA RP servers, they have a broader vision to make this available on consoles as well, aiming to profit from the upcoming GTA title, which is estimated to cost $1 billion to develop. If this happens, it could result in a huge jump in the gaming industry.
